Presidency Reference Wine Bars

The term of Presidency provides Hungary an excellent opportunity to widely present its gastronomy, in particular its products of viniculture. This gave rise to reference wine bars as a major contribution to the Presidency’s goal.

Wines served at the various high-profile events during the Presidency’s term have become available for anyone. By designating reference wine bars, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wished to enable visitors to taste wines selected for the Presidency’s events in conditions that meet international standards.

Both foreigners who know little or nothing about Hungarian wines and domestic wine lovers can learn about the high quality wines that have been found worthy of being served on VIP tables at the Hungarian Presidency’s various official events during the first half of 2011.

Wine bars have been selected according to a set of professional criteria determined by Presidency Sommelier Ms Helga Gál with the assistance of local governments that officially supervise the catering facilities. The candidates were assessed in terms of proper equipment and the ability to provide high quality services in foreign languages as key prerequisites.

Compliance with the strict criteria and recommendation by local governments earned the title Presidency Reference Wine Bar to the following catering facilities:
