What do young Europeans know about Totalitarianisms?
Date: 2011, March 29 - 8:00am
Purpose of Conference:
to focus on the importance to provide objective and comprehensive information about the totalitarian past, as public discourse can lead to a better, deeper understanding of our shared history and a greater feeling of unity.
There is a need of an adjustment and overhaul of European history textbooks and curricula, so that young generations can learn and be warned about all the totalitarianisms in the same way as they have been taught to assess the crimes of the Nazi; to keep the memories of the millions of victims alive, to warn future generations of the dangers of totalitarianism, and to promote a greater feeling of unity and understanding among Europeans.
