The 2011 Ministerial CIIP Conference will focus on European and International cooperation and will be a natural extension of the "Tallinn process" initiated by the 2009 Ministerial CIIP Conference. The Conference will contribute to demonstrating political endorsement of our public and private sectors' leaders in enhancing and reinforcing European and international cooperation on CIIP via strategic dialogue and partnership among EU Member States, third countries, international organizations and industry stakeholders.
The Conference will provide a forum to take stock of progresses achieved so far, to assess lessons learnt in the CIIP area as well as to discuss the challenges ahead, the priorities and next steps. It will investigate the way forward to engage all stakeholders and, in particular, the private sector, to address problems of security and trust in the fast changing digital environment, to promote the uptake of a culture of Network and Information Security, and to highlight the need for mutual action and responsibility of Member States and stakeholders. The framework of the event is provided by the new ENISA regulations currently under discussion and the forthcoming European Commission's policy statement on Critical Information Infrastructures Protection.
The public part of the Conference will open on the morning of the 15th of April 2011 with keynotes provided by high-level speakers including Dr. Tamás Fellegi, the Hungarian Minister for National Development and European Commission Vice-President Neelie Kroes, Digital Agenda Commissioner. CEOs of private companies and Director Generals of public administration will have the opportunity to discuss and put forward their views on driving forward the necessary international cooperation and coordination to better protect Critical Information Infrastructures during the two strategic panels in the morning of 15 April 2011. The afternoon parallel thematic sessions will provide insight into key aspects related to industry measures for security and resilience to enhance CIIP, assessing security and resilience risks to Critical Information Infrastructures and European and international cooperation on incident response.
